Match seven of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 pitted the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots against the Jamaica Tallawahs. The Tallawahs won the toss and elected to field first. They did a great job of restricting the Patriots to a manageable 156/9 in 20 overs. Joshua Da Silva with 36 off 32, including three fours and two sixes, remained the top-scorer for the Patriots. He was followed by Dominic Drakes with 29* off 22, including two fours and two sixes. At the same time, opener Andre Fletcher with 23 off 15 was the only other batter to surpass the 20-run mark.

Talking of the bowling from the Tallawahs, Salman Irshad remained the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/27 in four overs. He was followed by Mohammad Amir with 3/20 in four overs. At the same time., Imad Wasim and Nicholson Gordon returned with one wicket each. However, Salman Irshad pulled off an impressive feat dismissing three batters in the same over. He dismissed Fletcher in the first ball of the fifth over and then scalped Corbin Bosch in the next delivery. However, he could not complete his hat trick as the next wicket was Ambati Rayudu who was dismissed in the fifth ball of the over.

Jamaica Tallawahs won the CPL game by 8 wickets

In reply, the Tallawahs dropped in an expert batting performance and chased the target down with 21 balls to spare. Openers Brandon King and Kirk McKenzie with scores of 67 off 33 and 23 off 21, respectively, set the tone for the chase. At the same time, Shamarh Brooks and Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 38* off 31 and 17* off 15 to complete the remainder of the job.

Talking of the bowling from the Patriots, Dominic Drakes and Oshane Thomas scalped one with each. Salman Irshad was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding bowling performance as the Tallawahs reached the top of the standings with five points from three games, with two wins and one failing to produce results.
