A magnificent all-round performance by Team India

Talking about the match, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Captain Rohit got India off to an exciting start, scoring a quick 40 runs from 24 balls and setting the stage for the middle order. However, he was dismissed while attempting to hit Kagiso Rabada for a boundary.

Shubman Gill also had a promising start but couldn’t make the most of it, getting out to a superb delivery from Keshav Maharaj after scoring 23 runs. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer took their time to settle in, but once they found their groove, they consistently found the boundaries. Iyer, in particular, increased the scoring rate and kept the momentum going.

After Iyer’s departure with 77 runs to his name and a quick exit by KL Rahul, Kohli anchored the innings and provided stability. Although he slowed down a bit before reaching his century, Ravindra Jadeja came in and immediately made an impact. Kohli eventually reached his 49th ODI century, equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record, and led India to a formidable total of 326 runs.

In the 2nd innings, Mohammed Siraj struck early by removing the in-form Quinton de Kock, who had been the highest run-scorer of the tournament. Captain Rohit then introduced Jadeja into the attack, and he went on to take five wickets, dismantling the South African batting order. Mohammed Shami continued his excellent form, contributing with two wickets, and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in to clean up the tail with two quick wickets.
