Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently recovering from the injury he sustained during a horrific car accident in December last year. Due to the injuries, he missed some major cricket events like Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final.

Meanwhile, Pant, who has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), was recently spotted playing a friendly match in a video shared by one of his fans on Twitter. Many fans have reacted to the video and were delighted to watch Pant returning on the cricket field. In the clip, Pant can be seen playing some shots at ease which is very good news for the Indian team.

However, the chances of his participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup are still slim. Many fans and cricket experts believe that Pant should first play in domestic cricket and then make his comeback in the Indian national team. However, he has shown brilliant progress and has also started working on his fitness as well.

KL Rahul to replace Pant as wicketkeeper for ODI World Cup 2023

It’d be interesting to see who will be India’s main wicketkeeper-batter in the upcoming mega event in Pant’s absence. Players like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson are fighting for the spot. Rahul has more chances to get a spot in the squad as he has more experience than the other two players.

Interestingly, Rahul is also running out of the team due to his leg injury sustained during IPL 2023. He is recovering from the injury since then, however, Pant recently shared a video where Rahul can be seen batting in a match. It is expected that Rahul will make his comeback to the team in the upcoming Asia Cup.

In the video, shared by Pant, there was another batter who is also recovering from an injury. He was none other than India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer. He was injured during the Border-Gavaskar trophy earlier this year. But as India lack a proper middle-order batter, Iyer’s presence would be very beneficial for the team in Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
