India and Sri Lanka clashed against each other in the 4th match of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 stage at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday, September 12. With the help of a brilliant bowling display from the Indian bowlers, the Men in Blue registered a 41-run victory over the Sri Lankan team.

But what should have been a celebration after the match turned chaotic as emotions ran high among the Indian and Sri Lankan fans. A video is going viral on social media in which a Sri Lanka fan is unleashing towards an Indian fan and throwing punches at him in the stands. However, before things got ugly, both were separated by other fans who were present there at the moment.

It was quite shocking to see the fight between an Indian and a Sri Lankan fan as the players from both nations never really get into any fight on the field. India clashed against Pakistan, who are their arch-rivals, on Monday, September 11 but no such things were seen during and after that match between the fans.

Brilliant bowling performance by the Indian team

Meanwhile, talking about the match, India won the toss and opted to bat first and just as against Pakistan, openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma provided a great start to the innings. Rohit continued his brilliant form and smashed a quick half-century which included 7 fours and 2 sixes.

However, the introduction of Dunith Wellalage turned out to be the destruction of India’s middle order. He picked up 5 wickets and conceded only 40 runs in his 10 overs quota. Somehow, with the help of Axar Patel’s responsible knock of 25 runs in the end, India achieved a total of 213 runs.

Chasing the target, Sri Lanka’s top order got destroyed by Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj while the rest of the work was done by the spin department where Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja managed to take 2 wickets. Wellalage was the highest run-scorer for Sri Lanka with the score of 42 runs and got the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.
