WATCH: Liam Livingstone hurts his knee while taking Rohit Sharma’s catch in India vs England ODI World Cup clash

In the 29th match of the ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian Cricket Team are facing off against England at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 29. India, undefeated in all five matches, are full of confidence, while England seek a comeback with limited room for error.

Meanwhile, In India’s batting innings, the elegant Rohit Sharma, displaying fine form, was dismissed at 87 runs by England‘s spinner Adil Rashid in the 37th over. Rohit played across the line, but lacked the sweet spot of the bat, resulting in a high hit over mid-wicket.

Liam Livingstone rushed in from the deep and executed a sliding catch, but his right knee got wedged into the ground upon landing, which appeared uncomfortable upon review. Nevertheless, he held onto the catch. This incident does raise concerns about the outfield conditions and the work of the ground staff.

Brilliant bowling performance by England

Talking about the match, England won the toss and opted to field first, making the Indian side to set a target for the first time in the tournament so far. England skipper Jos Buttler’s decision proved right as the English bowlers dismissed 3 Indian batters on the score of just 40 runs.

Shubman Gill (9), Virat Kohli (0) and Shreyas Iyer (4) went back to the pavilion in quick succession. However, skipper Rohit and KL Rahul steadied the ship and stitched a much-needed 91-run stand for the 4th wicket. During this, Rohit completed his 2nd half-century of the tournament. 

Just when it looked like the Indian team are back on track, Rahul played a poor shot and departed on the score of 39 runs. Rohit was getting close to his 2nd century of the tournament but the right-hander decided to accelerate the innings but got himself out while trying to hit a six off Rashid’s delivery. 

In the end, Suryakumar Yadav tried his best and played a beautiful knock of 49 runs off 47 deliveries which included 4 fours and 1 six. However, he failed to smash his first World Cup half-century. The Men in Blue ended up scoring a total of 229 runs after playing 50 overs.
