It feels great to be able to open up with Rohit Sharma: Shubman Gill

Rohit will be seen opening with the young sensation Shubman Gill in the Asia Cup 2023. Gill talked about the same and said that it feels great to open with Rohit. He also revealed Rohit gives the players full freedom to play their natural game. The 23-year-old also said that Rohit likes to play lofted shots in the powerplay and hit sixes whereas he likes to find gaps and hit boundaries. So according to him, the combination fits very well.

“It feels great to be able to open up with him, especially knowing that all the focus is on him. He likes the other batters to go and just express himself and play the way I want to play the game. So in that nature, he gives the players full freedom for how they want to express their game,” Gill was quoted as saying by Zee News.

“I think because his (Rohit’s) targeted areas are a bit different (to mine). He loves to go aerial in the Powerplay. And I`m someone who likes to find the gaps and keep getting those boundaries, and he’s someone who likes to hit sixes. So I think that combination works well,” he added.
