WATCH: Former Pakistan pacer makes shocking confession about Sachin Tendulkar, rocks cricketing world
The India-Pakistan rivalry is at its peak as both teams are currently locking horns in the Asia Cup 2023. Ahead of the resumption of the Super 4 game on Monday, a video of former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar went viral on social media. In the viral video, Akhtar made some controversial remarks and confessions about legendary Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.
In the viral video, Akhtar can be heard saying how he deliberately tried to cause life-threatening injuries to Tendulkar during a match. He also confessed that he tried the same with World Cup winner MS too. “I want to reveal this today: I really wanted to injure Sachin in that match… I was determined to hurt Sachin at any cost in that match. And I kept at it, although Inzamam-ul-Haq asked me to bowl in front of the wickets,” says Shoaib Akhtar in the viral video.

Without any visible signs of guilt or embarrassment, Akhtar further stated that he intentionally hit Tendulkar’s helmet. “So I deliberately hit on his helmet and even thought that he (Sachin) would be dead… I saw the replay and found that the ball hit his forehead. I then tried to injure him again”, says the former Pakistani pacer. It is worth noting that the viral clip is from Akhtar’s interview with Sportskeeda in 2022.
I tried with MS Dhoni too: Shoaib Akhtar
It is worth noting that in the viral video, Akhtar is talking about the infamous India vs. Pakistan 3rd Test match of the 2006 series. This game was played at the National Stadium in Lahore. Notably, this is not the first time Akhtar has admitted to his deliberate fatal deliveries. Earlier, in 2021, while speaking with Sports Tak, Shoaib Akhtar revealed that he bowled a beamer to MS Dhoni intentionally.
Notably, the use of beamers is not allowed in international cricket. It is considered to be an illegal delivery, and the bowler gets a warning for it. It’s worth noting that deliberate use of beamers can cause serious or fatal head injuries to batters or wicketkeepers. However, without any visible guilt or shame, Akhtar admitted his deadly plans to stop Sachin and Dhoni in his career.
