On 20 September 2023, Jamaica Tallawahs (JMT) locked horns with St Lucia Kings (SLK) in the eliminator of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in Providence. Both teams were looking for a win to get a place in the qualifier 2. However, JMT came out victorious in the clash by 5 wickets.

Fabian Allen won the Player of the Match award for taking four wickets for 25 runs. His exceptional bowling helped his team to restrict SLK to 125 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. In reply, JMT chased down the target in 17.2 overs with five wickets in hand. A video went viral where Allen was seen taking those wickets and fans absolutely loved that.

Here is the shared video:

“I feel we are unbeatable now” – Fabian Allen

After winning the Player of the Match award during the post-match presentation, Allen said that it was a good feeling for him to execute his plans accurately. He said: “(On the surface) It is a difficult surface. We just bowled in the right areas and it paid off. (On the bowling attack) The experience is good. We have been doing well for the last two games. (On stepping up after Amir’s injury) That is what big players do – we are always ready for the challenge. Nice for me to execute.”

“(On what makes this team dangerous) We are confident. We won it last year from a similar position and hopefully we can win it again. (Who they would want to face) I will take any team. I feel we are unbeatable now (smiles),” Allen concluded.

JMT skipper, Brandon King also claimed that the entire bowling attack delighted him, especially Fabian Allen. He said: “Fabian came up trumps tonight. He bowled an incredible spell. It is tough to do that in the last ten overs of a T20 innings. Good to have a lot of options.” Now, JMT will be in action in the qualifier 2 at the same venue on 23 September 2023.
