WATCH: David Miller’s jaw-dropping one-handed juggle catch removes in-form Rahmat Shah
Afghanistan are almost out of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 as they are level on points with Pakistan and so they still have the slimmest of mathematical chances to make it to the top four on paper. But their net run rate is so poor that this slim chance really can exist only on paper and not in reality.
They are currently clashing against South Africa in the 42nd match of the tournament in Ahmedabad on Friday, November 10. During the match, South African star David Miller left spectators in awe with a jaw-dropping one-handed juggling catch, successfully dismissing the in-form Rahmat Shah. The moment was captured during the 24th over of the match bowled by Lungi Ngidi.

A wide, back-of-length delivery prompted Rahmat Shah to push the ball towards backward point. In a captivating sequence, the ball initially popped in and out of David Miller’s hand, then underwent two juggles before a fortuitous bounce off his face on the third attempt, culminating in a successful clean catch with his left hand.
Brilliant batting performance by Azmatullah Omarzai
Talking about the match, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan were given a decent start from the openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hashmatullah Shahidi. The initial momentum, however, faced a setback with Keshav Maharaj’s entry after the first 10 overs.
Maharaj swiftly made an impact by dismissing Gurbaz on his first delivery, followed by Gerald Coetzee sending Ibrahim Zadran back to the pavilion. The South African spinner’s relentless performance continued as he claimed the crucial wicket of Afghan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi.
Despite the stumbling wickets, Azmatullah Omarzai, alongside Rashid Khan, offered resistance, with Omarzai reaching a commendable half-century. Unfortunately for Afghanistan, the partnership concluded when Rashid fell to Andile Phehlukwayo’s delivery, caught behind the stumps. However, Omarzai then stitched a brilliant 44-run stand with Noor Ahmad and both helped the team to get past the 200-run mark. Omarzai fell 3 runs short of his well-deserved century but helped his team to achieve a fighting total of 244 runs.
