The Women’s Premier League 2024 will commence with an electrifying opening ceremony at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 23. The much-anticipated tournament will kick off with a match between Mumbai Indians Women (MI-W) and Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W). This clash gains added importance as it’s a rematch of the previous season’s final.

However, ahead of the opening ceremony, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan met players from both camps. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning and Shahrukh Khan shared a moment recreating the iconic SRK pose. This added a touch of fun to their prelude to the second edition of the WPL.

With Shahrukh Khan slated to perform at the WPL opening ceremony, the duo’s camaraderie set the tone for a lively start. In the inaugural match, the Delhi Capitals will lock horns with the defending champion Mumbai Indians.

Who will join Shah Rukh Khan in the WPL opening ceremony?

The light-hearted moments between Shahrukh Khan, Meg Lanning, and other DC players captured the camaraderie among the team. Despite reaching the WPL 2023 final, the Delhi Capitals succumbed to the Mumbai Indians. Meg Lanning, the top run scorer last year, aims to replicate her batting prowess and lead her team to clinch the coveted trophy this season.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan headlines an array of celebrities slated to perform at the ceremony. It features prominent names such as Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kartik Aaryan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The inaugural season of the WPL was held in Mumbai, hosting all matches at either DY Patil Stadium or Brabourne Stadium.

Following the highly anticipated MI vs DC clash, the second encounter will witness Royal Challengers Bangalore facing off against the UP Warriors at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. While the initial 11 matches unfold at the same venue, the latter half of the season, including playoffs, will unfold at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
