Two big news comes up from the Indian Test unit that has travelled to the shores of SA for the big challenge. Two key batters in the squad, Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad, have returned to India for different reasons. While one of them is set to return to the Test series, the other one is ruled out of the series. The fans are worried about the participation of the players in the Test series.

Virat Kohli returned to India about three days ago due to a family emergency. The exact reason behind Virat’s short leave is unknown. But the sources claim that it might be important. Virat reportedly took the permission of the Indian cricket board and returned to India without taking part in the Intra-squad match happening in Pretoria. However, he is expected to take part in both the Tests.

It is understood that Virat would be available for both the official Test matches of India against SA, which are set to take place in Centurion and Cape Town. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to be ruled out of the entire Test series against SA. The Indian opener sustained a finger injury in the ODI series and has not recovered yet from it.

Bad luck with Ruturaj Gaikwad in Tests

The sources say that Gaikwad might not be able to recover before the Test series. As a result, Gaikwad is set to be out of the series against South Africa. “(He) hasn’t fully recovered from the blow he sustained to his ring finger while fielding in the second ODI. He remains under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” the statement from the Indian medical team confirmed the same.

The luck of Gaikwad seems to be so bad that he is not getting an opportunity to make his debut in the longest format of the game. Gaikwad was selected for the WTC final earlier this year and missed out on it due to his wedding. Now in the series against SA, he is unfortunate to sustain an injury that has ruled him out of the series.
