Virat Kohli becomes the highest run scorer of T20 format surpassing Mahela Jayawardene!

Virat Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene, a legend from Sri Lanka, to become the player with the most runs scored in the history of the T20 World Cup (1016 runs in 31 matches). At the beginning of this game, Kohli has 1001 runs in 24 games. He broke the record against Taskin in the seventh over of the Indian innings with a single down the on-side.

Setting records when Virat Kohli is batting well is normal. The odd milestone came his way even though he wasn’t amassing tons of runs in the last couple of years. However, things started to alter after the 2022 Asia Cup. Records grew as Kohli slowly began to revert back to his ruthless best.

He recorded the greatest individual score by an Indian in the game’s shortest format with his first T20I hundred against Afghanistan (122* off 61 balls).

He surpassed Martin Guptill and Rohit Sharma to become the player with the most runs scored in T20 Internationals at the commencement of the T20 World Cup.

On Wednesday, against Bangladesh, Kohli performed admirably in a game that needed to be won. He began by hitting Taskin Ahmed for an upbeat cover drive before flashing the following widish delivery hard enough to clear the slips. In contrast to the three World Cup games, where Kohli took his time getting used to the bounce and pace of the conditions, Kohli came out against Bangladesh with an incredibly aggressive attitude.

India VS Bangladesh T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli scored his third goal against Mustafizur Rahman with a nice touch. Kohli simply steered the ball past the short third man fielder with an open face after the left-arm seamer moved it away from him at an angle.

In the process, he surpassed Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka to become the player to score the most runs in T20 World Cup history (1016 runs in 31 matches). At the beginning of this game, Kohli has 1001 runs in 24 games. He broke the record against Taskin in the seventh over of the Indian innings with a single down the on-side.

In 25 T20 World Cup games so far, Kohli has an astounding T20 World Cup average of over 83. Former Australian hitter Mike Hussey, who amassed 437 runs in 21 T20 World Cup contests, has the second-best average. None of the other cricketers in the top 10 scorers’ list averages more than 50.

Chris Gayle is currently in third place in the T20 World Cup with 965 runs in 35 games.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, is in fourth place with 921 runs in 37 games.
