Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan becomes first citizen of The Sarayu, buys 51-acer land near Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has made headlines by acquiring a 51-acre plot in Ayodhya, close to the Ram Mandir site, ahead of the much-anticipated consecration ceremony next Monday. The legendary actor purchased the land in The Sarayu, a prestigious 7-star mixed-use enclave developed by Mumbai-based The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL). Although the exact financial details remain undisclosed, industry sources estimate the plot to be approximately 10,000 square feet, valued at around Rs 14.5 crore.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the project, Bachchan shared, “I am looking forward to embarking on this journey with The House of Abhinandan Lodha for The Sarayu in Ayodhya, a city that holds a special place in my heart. The timeless spirituality and cultural richness of Ayodhya have forged an emotional connection that transcends geographical boundaries.”

“This is the start of a heartfelt journey into the soul of Ayodhya, where tradition and modernity seamlessly co-exist, creating an emotional tapestry that resonates with me deeply. I am looking forward to building my home in the global spiritual capital, he added.

Abhinandan Lodha praises Amitabh Bachchan’s investment

The Sarayu is strategically positioned on the outskirts of Ayodhya, just a 15-minute drive from the Ram Temple, adding to its allure. Amitabh Bachchan’s investment in The Sarayu signifies a connection to Ayodhya’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The city holds a profound significance for the actor. Amitabh Bachchan aims to build a home in what he describes as the “global spiritual capital.” Abhinandan Lodha, the chairman of HoABL, considers Bachchan’s involvement a “milestone moment” for the company. He also warmly welcomes him as the “first citizen” of The Sarayu.

The Sarayu enclave is designed to seamlessly blend tradition and modernity, offering a unique living experience in Ayodhya. The project is scheduled for completion by March 2028, the project also features a five-star palace hotel. In collaboration with Leela Palaces, Hotels, and Resorts it will be developed. The development aligns with the city’s spotlight amid preparations for the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony. Bachchan’s investment reflects a personal connection to Ayodhya’s timeless spirituality.

As Ayodhya becomes the focal point of national attention, Bachchan’s investment adds a touch of glamour to the city’s landscape. It also emphasises the harmonious coexistence of tradition and contemporary living.
