In the third T20I between South Africa and India, the home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. While the visitors were looking to avoid a whitewash, the Proteas were looking to win the series as they won the second T20I in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). Also, the first game in Durban ended as a no-result due to persistent rain.

Meanwhile, in this game, the Men In Blue had a great start but lost two back-to-back wickets for 29 runs. After scoring that many runs in just two overs, Keshav Maharaj broke in and took two back-to-back wickets. At this point, the likes of skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal stitched 113 runs for the third wicket. While the former scored his fourth T20I hundred, Jaiswal scored another T20I fifty.

Even though the team lost a few wickets, they managed to get 201/7 at the end of the innings. For the home side, Maharaj and Lizaad Williams took two wickets each while debutant Nandre Burger and Tabraiz Shamsi took one each.

In reply, the home side started quickly although they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. After this, it was a complete annihilation of the home side although the DRS wasn’t available for two overs of the innings. With Kuldeep Yadav taking another five-wicket haul on his birthday, the home side was bowled out for 95 runs, losing the game by 106 runs.

The wicket turned like a rank-turner with even Ravindra Jadeja, one of the most unorthodox spinners managing to grip the ball. He took two wickets with spinners accounting for seven wickets in the innings. Meanwhile, with this win, the three-match series ended up being leveled 1-1.
