India and Pakistan clashed against each other in the 3rd match of the Super 4 stage in Asia Cup 2023 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday, September 11. Indian cricket team displayed an amazing all-round performance and defeated Pakistan by 228 runs.

Talking about the match, Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss but Indian openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma provided a great start to the team and stitched a 121-run stand for the first wicket. Both players smashed half-centuries but soon departed after achieving the milestone.

However, later, India’s star batters KL Rahul and Virat Kohli took the innings forward and stitched a magnificent 200+ run partnership. Both smashed centuries for themselves. Rahul smashed a much-needed century in his comeback match after his recovery from the injury.

Brilliant bowling performance by Kuldeep Yadav

Rahul scored 111 runs off 106 balls which included 12 fours and 2 sixes. Kohli also smashed a brilliant century which was the 47th century of his career which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. He scored 122 runs off just 94 deliveries and helped the team to achieve a monumental total of 356 runs after losing just 2 wickets in 50 overs.

No Pakistani bowler except Naseem Shah could trouble the Indian batters. Naseem bowled 9.2 overs and conceded only 53 runs, however, he wasn’t able to take any wickets. Chasing the target, Pakistan had a horrible start as they lost opener Imam-ul-Haq in the 5th over of the match.

However, they suffered a huge blow when Hardik Pandya dismissed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam in the 11th over of the match. Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed tried to contribute something to the scoreboard but the brilliant bowling display from the chinaman Kuldeep Yadav denied every effort of the Pakistani batters as he took 5 wickets in the match and restricted them to the score of just 128 runs.
