Former Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni is gearing up for another Indian Premier League (IPL) season, where he will lead the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 17th edition. Dhoni had assured his fans of his return for the upcoming season as a token of appreciation for their support in the 2023 season.

Despite a knee injury in the 16th edition, Dhoni continued to play and successfully guided CSK to their 5th IPL title. Following the tournament’s conclusion, he underwent knee surgery and appears to be in good form now. With CSK announcing their retention and release list, it seems likely that Dhoni will continue with the franchise, possibly for the last time.

As the defending champions, CSK has consistently maintained a strong and balanced squad in each IPL season. In preparation for the IPL 2024 mini-auction, significant decisions have been made, including the absence of a few players for various reasons. Notably, Ben Stokes will miss the upcoming season due to fitness issues, and CSK also needs to find a replacement for Ambati Rayudu, who retired from the league last year.
