Sunny Leone to Tamannaah Bhatia, stars who joined newly released, Threads
A new social media, Threads has been the talk of the town. On July 2, Instagram, a photo and video-sharing site released the app. Since then, over five million (50 lakh) people have downloaded the app. Meanwhile, Bollywood celebs such as Sunny Leone, Tamannaah Bhatia, Taapsee Pannu, Parineeti Chopra, Nakul Mehta, etc have joined the app. Apart from them, others include Mrunal Thakur, Riteish Deshmukh, and Madhuri Dixit, who are yet to share their first posts.
Talking about the app, it has been relaunched by Instagram. Some Instagram users might remember it was released by the same name by the same company. It was a camera-first messaging app that let users share status updates and chat with their “Close friends”. However, the app was folded at the end of 2021. Now, it has returned that claims to have a rivalry with Twitter.
“Threads is a new app, built by the Instagram team, for sharing text updates and joining public conversations. You log in using your Instagram account and posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length” Meta said in a blogpost on Wednesday.
Notably, the micro-blogging app, Twitter has been tried upon to dethrone it. However, none of the rival apps have been successful. This time around, things may change after Twitter is taken over by Elon Musk. After the acquisition, Musk introduced fees for verification badges. Blue Tick for individuals, Yellow for corporations, and Grey for ministers or ministers or government organizations.
A lot of notable figures across sports, film stars, filmmakers, etc have chosen not to pay for the badges. They feel that the verification badges must be exclusive to famous personalities. Also, they refuse to fill the coffers of America’s business mogul.
