Subramanian Swamy to sue Akshay Kumar over Ram Setu!

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is landing up in one controversy after another.

The latest ruckus relates to his upcoming film Ram Setu.

The film directed by Abhishek Sharma is now facing legal trouble.

Yesterday, BJP leader and MP Subramanian Swamy stated he would file a case demanding compensation against the makers.

What is the issue?

The BJP leader took to Twitter and claimed that the issue of Ram Setu has been misrepresented in the film.

Dr. Swamy also stated that the facts have been tampered with.

He said that he will sue the actor and the makers of the film for the ‘falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue’ in their film

For those unaware, the issue became politically sensitive recently after Dr. Swamy moved a petition to have ‘Ram Setu’ declared a national heritage monument by the Centre.

The case will be heard by the Supreme Court next week.

Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s bridge, is a chain of limestone shoals between Pamban Island, off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, and Mannar Island, off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.

He tweeted, “The suit for compensation has been finalised by my associate Satya Sabharwal Adv.”

“I am suing Akshay Kumar, actor & Karma Media for damages caused by falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue in their film for release.”

“If actor Akshay Kumar is a foreign citizen then we can ask he be arrested and evicted from his adopted country,” he said in a follow-up tweet.

The Abhishek Sharma directorial also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Nusrat Bharucha along with Akshay.

The film is being backed by Akshay’s mother, Aruna Bhatia.

It is slated for a Diwali 2023 release.

Since the debacle of Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay has been facing many challenges and we hope his fortunes change for the better, soon.

To give some context, the UPA government, in 2007, had proposed a Sethusamudram project.

Under this project, an 83-km-long deep-water channel was to be made by extensive dredging and removal of the limestone shoals, to link Mannar with Palk Strait.

Swamy moved against this decision in the court and the government resorted to another plan to link Mannar with Palk Strait.
