Star India batter ruled out from India’s Test squad against England due to injury

Ahead of the third Test match between India and England injury concerns hit again in the Indian camp. With just three days remaining to start the third Test match, India has faced another setback as KL Rahul has been ruled out for the third Test match against England in Rajkot.

Due to pain in the right quadriceps, he missed the second Test in Vizag also. As India announced the squad for the remaining three Test games against England KL Rahul’s name was included in the squad. But it was not sure whether he was playing in a third Test match. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja was also given clearance to play the last three Test matches against England.

Indian Cricket Board has announced KL Rahul’s replacement as Devdutt Padikkal in the squad. Even though there was a big gap between the second Test and third Test KL Rahul is still unfit to play.  As per reports KL Rahul was going to get 100% fit for the third Test match but did not recover fully.

KL Rahul played at No. 4 position for India in the first Test match in Hyderabad. In the first Test match, he impressed everyone as Virat Kohli’s absence was not missed. Devdutt Padikkal who is named as the replacement has a good form in Ranji Cricket for Karnataka. So far, he has played 4 matches and scored over 556 runs. He has also 3 centuries under his name in this season for domestic cricket. Against England Lions in an unofficial Test match, he scored a hundred for India A.

As India is getting ready for the last three matches, injury in the squad has halted their preparation for the Test series. Shreyas Iyer is also not available due to a stiff back and groin injury. In the meantime, Sarfaraz Khan may make his debut in the third Test match. For the third Test match, both teams won 1 match in the five-match Test series.
