SS Rajamouli drops teaser of biopic on origins of Indian cinema, ‘Made In India’

Indian ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli who is known for making some of the biggest pan Indian films is back with another blockbuster. On 19th September 2023, the filmmaker took to his official social media to drop the teaser of his upcoming biopic ‘Made In India’. The biopic will take the audience on a journey to the birth and rise of cinema.

After massive success as a director for the Oscar-winning film RRR, SS Rajamouli has announced his first-ever production venture movie. The film will showcase the journey of Indian cinema from its birth to its rise. ‘Made In India’ will be directed by the director Nitin Kakkar.

Rajamouli penned a heartfelt and emotional note while sharing the teaser of his upcoming film on X (Formerly known as Twitter). He wrote about how the story of his maiden production venture Made In India moved him emotionally. The filmmaker announced the movie with a 46 seconds-long teaser and revealed that he would not be directing the film.

While announcing the film and dropping its teaser, Rajamouli wrote, “When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:) With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA…”  Check out the post below.

According to a report in Deadline, “SS Rajamouli is eager to bring the tale of ‘The birth and rise of Indian cinema’ to the big screen. Made In India will be a ‘magnum opus on a huge scale and canvas’ like every other Rajamouli movie is. Nitin Kakkar will serve as the director, and Varun Gupta and SS Karthikeya will serve as producers.”

The first full-length feature film produced in India, Raja Harishchandra, by director Dadasaheb Phalke, was released in 1913, marking the beginning of Indian filmmaking. The director went on to make over 90 full-length films and over 27 short films, making him one of the most well-known screenwriters and directors in Indian cinematic history. Because of his contributions to the industry, he earned the moniker “Father of Indian Cinema.”
