The first set of the match was thrilling. The Spaniard and the French were literally neck-to-neck against each other and did not let away any advantage against each other. Both the players committed a lot of unforced errors in the first set. The very first game of the match involved a lot of deuces. One would have wondered if the day was going to go the same way. As it turned out, it was not to be.

In the first set, each of them claimed a game and conceded the other until it became 6-6. The set went to the tiebreaker, where the similar story continued. The points read 5-5 at one point. Carlos Alcaraz dominated the rest of the match

As it turned out, Carlos did not look back and dominated the experienced player. In the second set, Carlos committed less errors, which did not help Gasquet’s cause. The 20-year-old returned to his best form in the last 2 sets. The world number 2 won games off Gasquet’s serves. It showed that the Australian Open match was slipping away from the hands of Richard pretty quickly.
