Pakistan Cricket team didn’t have an impressive run in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 as they failed to qualify for the semi-finals and ended up at the 5th spot in the points table. They played 9 matches in the tournament and were able to win only 4 matches.

Meanwhile, Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has recently expressed his keen interest in participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL), highlighting the league’s global prominence. The right-arm seamer, known for his impressive performances in international cricket, sees the IPL as one of the biggest and most competitive T20 leagues globally. Ali’s eagerness to be part of the IPL reflects the growing trend of players from various countries recognising the significance and allure of the tournament.

“Every player wants to play IPL & it is my wish to play there. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world and I will definitely play there if there is an opportunity in the future.” Ali was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

Babar Azam has resigned as Pakistan Cricket team’s captain

Despite the evident interest from Pakistani players, their participation in the IPL has been a subject of contention and limitation. Historically, political tensions and strained relations between India and Pakistan have spilt over into the cricketing arena. This has led to restrictions on Pakistani players’ involvement in the IPL.

The Indian Cricket Board, which organises the IPL, has faced challenges in accommodating players from Pakistan due to geopolitical reasons. While cricket is a sport that unites fans worldwide, external factors have unfortunately impacted the cross-border participation of players in prestigious leagues like the IPL.

Meanwhile, talking about the Pakistan cricket team, there were multiple changes which took place after Pakistan’s poor performance in the World Cup. Babar Azam has resigned as captain from all formats of the game. Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi have been appointed as Pakistan’s Test and T20I captains.
