Shocking! PSG star Achraf Hakimi accused of rape
Achraf Hakimi is currently in serious legal trouble as the Paris Saint-Germain star is “under investigation by French prosecutors” for an alleged rape.
The alleged victim, 24, residing in Fontenay-sous-Bois (Val-de-Marne), indicated that she did not wish to file a complaint but “to make a statement of rape.”
However, the club came out in support of Hakimi.
“The club is in support of the player who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts justice. PSG is an institution that promotes respect on and off the pitch.”
Hakimi was questioned on Thursday by investigators probing rape allegations.
It is now confirmed that the Moroccan is placed under judicial supervision as that a pre-trial judge will look over the merits of the case.
Under French law, preliminary charges doesn’t mean that the case will necessarily go to trial but it means there is reason to suspect a crime has been committed.
Meanwhile, Hakimi’s lawyer Fanny Colin has released an official statement describing the accusations as fake.
“The accusations are false. He is calm and is making himself available to the authorities,“ Colin’s statement read.
“The informant refused to press charges, refused to submit herself to any medical or psychological exams and refused to confront in person Achraf Hakimi when the accusations only rely on her words,”
“According to the elements currently at the disposal of the police that Mr Hakimi, in this case, is the victim of an attempt of racketeering.”
The Madrid-born star had standout performances in 2022 which saw him named in the 2022 FIFPRO World XI at FIFA The Best awards ceremony.
Besides winning the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint Germain, Hakimi was also part of Morocco’s squad in 2022 FIFA World Cup in which the Atlas Lions become the first African and Arab team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
Achraf Hakimi was in attendance as Paris Saint-Germain faced Nantes in Ligue 1 on Saturday but he sat in the crowd after being left out of the squad.
Despite the charges, Hakimi had been declared available for selection and although he was dropped for the weekend’s clash, he could still feature against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Hakimi had missed his team’s previous two matches because of a hamstring problem and it is not yet clear if coach Christophe Galtier will select him for their upcoming matches.
