A recent sting operation by a leading TV channel has revealed some shocking details about the injury trends in the Indian cricket team.

The team’s chief selector, Chetan Sharma, disclosed that Indian players often use injections to return to full fitness, and these injections contain substances that cannot be detected in a doping test.

The grueling cricketing calendar has resulted in an increase in player injuries, and as a result, the Indian squad has implemented workload management strategies.

However, there have been several instances where the management has been accused of rushing players back into action, resulting in the aggravation of injuries and recurring injuries.

Sharma’s revelation was made during a sting operation conducted by Zee, where he said that the players are not fit, but they take injections to play.

He also stated that the players are willing to play even at 80 percent fitness, and they are aware of which injections come under anti-doping regulations.

Sharma clarified that he was talking about injections, not pain-killers, as pain-killers come under doping regulations.

In response to these revelations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has brought back the Yo-Yo Test as a selection criterion.

It has also mandated that fitness coaches at the National Cricket Academy work with the franchises during the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Deepak Chahar are some of the players who have struggled with recurring injury issues.

According to Sharma, the team hierarchy is aware of the injections taken by the players, and they have their own doctors who are willing to rush the players back into fitness, even if they are not ready.
