In the only four-day Test played at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, India and England Women’s teams locked horns. In the game, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first. They had a mixed start as they lost two wickets for 47 runs in 8.4 overs. At this stage, debutant Satheesh Shubha and Jemimah Rodrigues put together 115 runs for the third wicket.

Both batters scored a fifty each. After their wickets, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and wicketkeeper batter Yastika Bhatia put together 116 runs for the fifth wicket. After their wickets, Deepti Sharma’s half-century and contributions from the lower order helped the team end Day One on 410/7. At the start of Day Two, the Asian team was bowled out for 428 in 104.3 overs.

On the same day, the Three Lionesses started decently with 79/2 on the board. However, with all-rounder Deepti Sharma taking her maiden five-wicket haul, the visitors were bowled out for 136. Despite the lead of more than 290 runs, the Women In Blue decided to bat again. Even though the England bowlers bowled well and took six wickets, the home team ended with 181/6 at the stumps on Day Two.

At the start of Day Three, India decided to declare the innings with a lead of 478 runs. The European side was asked to chase 479 runs with two days left in the game. However, in the first session of the day, the team lost nine wickets for just 108 runs. Thanks to this, the first session of the day was extended.

In the end, the team was bowled out for 131, losing the game by 347 runs. Sharma, who took five wickets in the first innings, took four in the second innings. Apart from her, Pooja Vastrakar took three wickets at the start of the innings while Rajeshwari Gaikwad took two.
