Shashi Tharoor voices displeasure following Sanju Samson & Yuzvendra Chahal’s omission from India’s T20I squad
After the heartbreaking 6-wicket loss to Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, the Men in Blue are set to be back in action in a 5-match T20I series against the Kangaroos. The series will begin on November 23 and will conclude on December 3. The Indian Cricket Board has also announced the squad for the series.
Meanwhile, Indian politician Shashi Tharoor has expressed his discontent after the exclusion of cricketers Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal from India’s T20I squad. Tharoor, known for his avid interest in cricket, took to social media to voice his displeasure, calling the decision into question.
“This is truly inexplicable. Sanju Samson should not only have been selected, he should have led the side in the absence of all the seniors. His captaincy experience with Kerala and Rajasthan Royals is more current than SKY’s. Our selectors need to explain themselves to the cricket-loving public. And why no Yuzvendra Chahal either?” Tharoor tweeted.

The seasoned politician and cricket enthusiast did not mince words, expressing anger over what he perceives as unjust snubs. As discussions around team selection heats up, fans await responses from cricket authorities. Chahal himself reacted to his snub from the squad as he took to X and posted a smiling emoji.
However, Samson hasn’t opened up on his exclusion yet but his fans have been vocal on the social media platforms slamming the Indian Cricket Board for constantly ignoring the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter. Talking about the squad, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as captain while Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as the vice-captain in the series against Australia.
