Legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has become the latest victim of deepfake technology. The misuse of AI (Artificial Intelligence) has been a hot topic in recent times, with many movie celebrities at the receiving end. In the first such case reported by a cricketer, Tendulkar called out a fake video going viral on social media in which his voice was manipulated to promote an online game.

The edited video shows the former India batter endorsing a gaming app called “Skyward Aviator Quest” and falsely claiming that his daughter Sara Tendulkar earns Rs 1.8 lakh per day. Tendulkar rubbished fake news and asked social media sites to stop spreading false information.

“These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes,” the 50-year-old wrote on his X handle.
