‘Sach mein duniya hiladi’- Fans react as Hardik Pandya replaces Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians captain for IPL 2024

The franchise on Thursday has released a statement on Instagram, that the star all-rounder will be leading the side in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Rohit Sharma who was their five-time IPL-winning captain will not be seen leading the side anymore. Rohit was the captain for 10 years for Mumbai and has given them the best time during his stint.

Pandya, after leading GT to an IPL victory in the first season and guiding them to the previous edition’s final, was released by the franchise for two seasons. He sustained an injury while bowling in the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh, which has kept him out of action since then. He will be returning for the mega event as a skipper for the side where he started his IPL career.

Rohit has been given rest for the white-ball cricket and speculations are running that he might not lead India in the T20 World Cup 2024. The 36-year-old skipper led India to the final of the World Cup after 12 years and fans are still believing him to return to the side.
