SA20 2024 Auction: Where to watch live, Timing and what are the rules
The SA20 auction for the 2024 season is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27. During this event, six teams will engage in competitive bidding to acquire the best talent from a large pool of players. This marks the second edition of the tournament, following a highly successful debut that garnered a global fanbase.
Regarding the auction process, each team is required to assemble a squad of 19 players, including a minimum of 10 players from South Africa and a maximum of seven international players. Additionally, teams must select a rookie player, who must be a South African cricketer.
A total of 257 players have registered for the auction, but not all will be selected as there are only a few slots left to fill. Expect intense bidding wars during the auction. Furthermore, each team must choose a rookie player from the draft, who should be a South African player under 22 years old at the time of the auction and must not have previously been contracted to SA20.

There are 80 players registered for the Rookie draft, which will occur after the player auction. Notably, star Indian batsman and 2007 T20 World Cup champion, Robin Uthappa, has also registered for the tournament. If any team successfully bids for him during the auction, he could become the first-ever Indian player to participate in SA20.

In terms of team finances, the Pretoria Capitals have a remaining budget of INR 4.80 crore to complete their squad with eight players. The Joburg Super Kings have INR 3.02 crore left to fill five slots, MI Cape Town has INR 2.75 crore for five slots, the Paarl Royals have INR 4.36 crore to complete their squad with four slots, defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape have INR 90.71 lakhs for four slots, and Durban’s Super Giants have INR 84.88 lakhs to acquire two players.
