Russia’s isolation from international sport continues.

UEFA has confirmed that Russia would be excluded from qualification for Euro 2024.

The UEFA President Alexander Ceferin gave an official statement in this regard.

“All Russian teams are currently suspended following the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee of 28 February 2022 which has further been confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on 15 July 2022.”

“Russia is therefore not included in the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24 qualifying draw.”

“We hope that the war will end as soon as possible so we can have the national team of Russia in our competitions, but the situation as it is, is such that we can’t even discuss it. ”

Russia’s men’s team were also banned from competing in the 2022 World Cup, foregoing their qualification playoff place.

The women’s side were similarly barred from Euro 2022, being replaced by Portugal in the competition proper.
