Rodrygo’s two goals stun Man City, Real Madrid in final
It is indeed a miracle we witnessed in Estadio Santiago Bernabeu tonight.
Against all odds, Los Blancos, the 13-time winners beat Man City and are now in the Champions League final against Liverpool in a repeat of the 2018 final in Kyiv.
People say Real Madrid always find a way.
This adage was proven true yet again!
Carlo Ancelotti’s side once again came back from the dead on Wednesday night, scoring three times after the 90th minute.
Trailing 1-0 after 90 minutes, they won 3-1 on the night and 6-5 on aggregate.
Madrid show early intent
Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu with a single-goal cushion following a 4-3 victory in the first leg at home.
Having lost the first leg 4-3 in Manchester, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid knew they had to come out and play.
They sought to attack more than usual but poor finishing let them down.
Karim Benzema had a good chance but headed over, and it was a chance that he would have expected to score on another day.
The French No.9 had another chance that he sent off target and it looked as though it just wasn’t going to be his night.
Mahrez delivers
Already needing two goals to go through, Los Blancos were delivered a blow when Riyad Mahrez drew first blood.
He fired a fierce shot into the top corner at Thibaut Courtois’ near post with about 23 minutes left to play.
Man City began to smell victory and tried to go for the kill.
Jack Grealish came off the bench and could have finished Los Blancos off, half-rounding Courtois before poking towards goal.
On the line, though a scrambling Ferland Mendy managed to clear, ensuring that Real Madrid still lived to fight another day.
Rodrygo creates a miracle
CIty fans were already dreaming about the final when a thunderbolt struck named Rodrygo struck!
In the 90th minute, Rodrygo Goes levelled on the night after latching on to a pull back from Benzema and put the hosts just one goal behind City.
And he wasn’t done there.
Within a minute Rodrygo scored again, making him the first-ever Champions League player to score twice after the 90th minute.
He met a Carvajal cross from the right with a perfectly guided header to leave Ederson helpless on the ground.
City looked like their pockets had been stolen and were still in a daze when Real Madrid won a penalty in the first half of extra time.
Benzema had promised the fans about a magical night at the Bernabeu and he delivered exactly that by slotting home the penalty.

The tables had turned and the aggregate now stood at Madrid 6 to Man City’s 5.
And that’s how it stayed till the end.
City tried to make a fight of it but Eder Militao ensured that they ran out of time through some ‘fake injury’ histrionics.
The result allows Real Madrid to continue to dream of a treble this season, having already won LaLiga Santander and the Supercopa de Espana.
Los Blancos face Liverpool in the final, having beaten Jurgen Klopp’s Reds in the 2018 edition in Kyiv.

With the loss, City’s dreams of a double have ended.
They’ll now focus all of their attention on retaining their Premier League title and fighting off competition from Champions League finalists Liverpool.
