Rishabh Pant tests Covid positive

India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has tested positive for coronavirus in England.

It is understood that Pant has been afflicted by the Delta variant which has led to the rising number of cases in England.

Thankfully, he is asymptomatic.

Pant had taken a Covid test eight days ago.

The wicketkeeper will not travel with the rest of the Indian squad to Durham where the team is set to play a practice match.

India is scheduled to take on England for a five-match Test series starting August 4.

This series will kick off the second cycle of the World Test Championship.

Pant had taken his first dose of Covid vaccine on May 13.

It is possible that Pant contracted the virus at Wembley Stadium.

In fact, Pant was recently spotted with his friends at the famous football arena during a Euro 2020 match between England and Germany.

Team India players were give a 20-day break after competing in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship final in Southampton.

As per sources, no other player has been affected by the virus.
