Mili becomes Janhvi Kapoor’s best film. Here’s some reviews
Mili, starring Janhvi Kapoor in the titular role released today.
Synopsis: Mili Naudiyal is a 24 year old girl living with her father in quaint Dehradun. She works at a fast food joint at the mall whilst preparing for her IELTS since she aspires to become a nurse in Canada. Even though her father doesn’t want her to go abroad, he respects her wishes. Sameer (Sunny Kaushal) is Mili’s unemployed boyfriend of whom her father disapproves but she keeps dating him anyway. When Mili does not return home from work one night, her father and boyfriend race against time to find and save her.
NDTV gives Mili 3 out of 5 stars.
According to NDTV, the movie is a complete remake of the movie Helen released in 2019 by the same director. One might wonder why would the director bother remaking it Hindi? With a few tweaks here and there, the movie does do a pretty good job at being a stand alone. This movie will keep you at the edge of your seats no doubt.
The movie is completely circled around one factor, that is how a nursing student uses her skills to save herself from Hypothermia and on the other hand, how her father and boyfriend are desperately on the search for her.
Mili focuses on the father – daughter relationship but makes sure it’s no over the top or underwhelming even. Even though they share a beautiful relationship, they have secrets from one another. Mili’s secret is that she is dating Sameer who belongs to another caste and is also unemployed. Mili wants to keep her relationship under wraps until Sameer starts working. Trapped in a commercial freezer with -17 degree celsius. She looks in the face of death with no rescue coming for her anytime soon.
Mili’s father and Sameer are against the police system of their town and are laser focused on finding Mili asap.
The film does not too many plot twists but manages to keep you glued to the screen. It never falters in showing the girl in distress and her resilience to stay alive.
Jahnvi Kapoor with this movie has proved her caliber. Watch it definitely.
