Cobra directed by by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu and produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar starring Vikram Srinidhi Shetty, Irfan Pathan released on 31st August 2022.

Cobra is an Indian crime/action mystery thriller with Vikram playing the titular role and it marks cricketer Irfan Pathan’s cinematic debut.

The reviews for the movie are good overall as google users love the film and IMDb gave the movie a decent review too.

But there are some negatives about the movie concerning the second half as some reviews call the second half of the movie boring and too complex.

According to a review by Bollywood Life, Vikram has did extremely well as usual with his presence on the screen. The female lead, Srinidhi Shetty had enough screen time and she did good. Irfan Pathan did not disappoint either.

The movie could do with some editing as a lot of critics felt that approx 20 mins can be cut to make the movie better. Narration and execution of the movie could have been better. The story albeit simple, is complicated for no apparent reason.

According to Hindustan Times’ review, Cobra is too ambitious at some moments. The brilliancy of the movie does not show throughout and the end becomes predictable.

The storyline feels stretched and after a while becomes tiring. Vikram shines in his role as a mathematician living as a recluse and there are good moments but not enough.

As per 123Telugu.com, Cobra is a ‘half baked action drama’. The movie delivers in the first half with Vikram’s acting at an top notch level, Srinidhi Shetty does well and Irfan Pathan makes a good debut.

The storyline up until the interval keeps you hooked but the second half is painfully long and sometimes defies logic altogether. Simple and sweet is how the second half should have been instead of complex and boring.

Quint in its review begins with how the movie made them hate maths. The movie has its mystery/thriller moments but has its share of ‘logical loopholes’ as well as ‘cliches’. Even after trimming 20 mins of the movie on its second day, its still not up to the mark. Cobra aspires to be something but ends up being a tad messy.

All in all, the movie is a hit and a miss but has enough positives to maybe catch it in theatres.
