Star India batter KL Rahul has been away from competitive cricket since his injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Rahul underwent a surgery on May 9 in England following which the cricketer has been enrolled in a rehabilitation programme in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
To the fans delight, KL Rahul dropped a subtle hint that he is nearing full fitness. The cricketer posted a photo where he can be seen resting after an intense training session and captioned, “Starting to feel like me again.”

Notably, he featured in nine IPL games before getting injured. In them, he performed satisfactorily, scoring 274 runs at an below par strike rate of 113.22. He was also named in the squad for the World Test Championship 2021-23 final against Australia. However, he ruled himself out with a post on social media. Ishan Kishan stepped up as his replacement for the crucial final that India lost by 209 runs to the mighty Aussies.
KL Rahul could play a part in the Asia Cup 2023
According to speculations, KL Rahul should return to full fitness before the start of the Asia Cup 2023 that starts on August 31. The continental tournament will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. It would be an important tournament for KL Rahul, if he can make it. It can determine his participation in the upcoming big event, the ODI World Cup 2023.
Talking of KL Rahul’s situation, a senior Indian Cricket Board official said, “KL Rahul’s recovery is going well. He should be fit in a month or so. Return from surgery is always tricky and he is a very important player for World Cup. Iyer’s progress is slow but we are still hopeful that he will recover by World Cup. But at this moment, it’s not a certainty with Iyer.”
