Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis managed to find some joy in the midst of his injury. Recently, he was ruled out of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 after St Lucia Kings’ match against Trinbago Knight Riders. In the game, Du Plessis hit a half-century in the midst of his Tennis Elbow problem. This innings helped the team reach 167/5 and then their bowlers bowled out TKR for 113 runs.

However, after the game, the former South Africa skipper spoke about the pain he went through during his innings. He also mentioned losing power in his shots in the end due to increasing pain

“[During] the last while I did feel a little bit of loss of power – all because of the pain, which sometimes pulls the power back,” du Plessis said. “So you just have to play a game where you feel like maybe hitting at 80% power, and [on] fields like this [which are] a little bit smaller, you can just time the ball. But yeah, really happy with the innings today.

Faf du Plessis to undergo a Tennis Elbow surgery

After being ruled out of the CPL 2023, the Protean will go through surgery. He has been replaced as captain by Sikandar Raza, who also plays for Punjab Kings, the parent franchise of St Lucia Kings. Apart from this, Colin Munro, a long-time TKR player till 2021 has been brought in. Du Plessis has backed Sikandar Raza to take the team all the way.

“Always for me, it’s about pulling people in for the journey, and try and ask questions. And I feel that’s the best way, according to me, to run things,” du Plessis said. “You use the resources that you have. Roston Chase has been great. For me on the field, [it’s] just speaking to him about local players and asking questions. Johnson Charles is a great cricket brain. He’s not a guy who says a lot, but [is] a great thinker.

Meanwhile, recently, the right-hander posted a picture of his ice-cream plate. He is currently in Qatar as suggested by his Instagram story. A chef, apart from serving ice cream, also wrote “Hello Faf, Ee Sala Cup Namdhe”
