Actor Rakul Preet Singh recently opened up about her struggles with food guilt, beauty standards, and the pressures of staying fit in the entertainment industry. Sharing insights during an interview, Rakul admitted to dealing with food guilt during her New Year’s vacation in London.

“I’ve always been into wellness and fitness, but it can easily turn into an obsession,” she revealed. “I had to remind myself that my validation doesn’t come from weighing myself every day. It’s okay to indulge and not feel guilty.”

Rakul believes this issue resonates with many young women, especially in the age of social media. “Today, validation often comes from how we look online. Many young girls feel pressured to achieve a certain body image. I’ve read reports of teenagers facing eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia. We need more open conversations about food guilt and depression,” she emphasized.

Highlighting the unrealistic expectations tied to physical appearances, Rakul shared, “Young girls often look at actresses and aspire to have similar physiques. What they don’t see is the hard work and effort behind it. It’s human to worry about a breakout or weight fluctuations, but we need to normalize these concerns.”

The actor also noted how societal pressures affect priorities. “I’ve met girls who stop eating to lose weight for a wedding. The question is, is that event more important than your health? India needs more food experts to address these issues openly.”

Despite the demands of her profession, Rakul stressed balance. “As an actor, if your role requires you to look a certain way, it’s part of the job. But nobody is forcing anyone to be anorexic. It’s about being presentable and meeting the role’s demands.”

Rakul’s candid remarks shine a light on the hidden struggles behind the glamour of showbiz and encourage healthier conversations about body image and mental well-being.
