Rajpal Yadav Opens Up About Baby John Box Office Failure and Varun Dhawan’s Reaction
Rajpal Yadav Talks About Baby John Box Office Failure
Baby John turned out to be a box office disappointment, much to the dismay of its star Varun Dhawan. Despite its high budget, the film failed to recover its costs. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rajpal Yadav, co-star of the film, discussed the reasons behind the film’s failure and Varun’s reaction to it.
The Issue with the Baby John Remake
Rajpal Yadav believes that Baby John was a well-made film, but its status as a remake hurt its box office performance. He explained, “If this wasn’t a remake, then this would have been the most well-made film of my 25-year career. But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it, and it affected the box office.”
Low Box Office Earnings Despite Big Budget
Baby John, directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, had a budget exceeding ₹180 crore but earned less than ₹50 crore at the domestic box office. This stark contrast contributed to the film’s disappointing commercial performance.
Varun Dhawan’s Reaction to the Failure
Rajpal Yadav also opened up about Varun Dhawan’s reaction to the failure of Baby John. Contrary to what some may expect, Rajpal emphasized that Varun was not “depressed” by the outcome. “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated,” he said, praising Varun for taking risks in his career.
Rajpal Yadav’s Role in Baby John
Rajpal Yadav played the role of Constable Ram Sevak, a deputy to Varun’s character, DCP Satya Verma. While the film did not perform well with critics, Rajpal earned some praise, particularly for his action sequence, marking his debut in action.
