However, the tables have turned, and the challenge now seems to be deciding whom to exclude from the squad, as most players are in excellent form. Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, has provided vital insights into the composition of India’s squad for the upcoming warm-up match in the ODI World Cup against England.
Dravid said that there are a few players who are suffering from viral disease and there were also some players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma who left for the Asian Games 2023 due to which there was big of a jugglery that they had to manage.
“We have had a few issues with viral going around the group. It was a bit of a balancing act, especially because few guys had to go home due to personal reasons. There was a team leaving for the Asian Games tonight, so some of the guys like Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) and Tilak (Varma) had to go. So, it was a bit of a jugglery that we had to manage in this game,” Dravid was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Warm-up matches are pivotal in fine-tuning strategies, assessing combinations, and adapting to the prevailing conditions. India’s clash with England carries extra significance because the English side are known for its aggressive playing style which will surely test the Indian bowlers. However, Dravid further added and said that he expect every player to be present in Guwahati for the warm-up match.
“But no, I’m hoping we have got about a week. I expect everyone to be there in Guwahati when we reach tomorrow, latest by tomorrow night or the morning the next day, we should be full strength. The bug around the group should’ve cleared up as well. Be nice if that happens,” he added.
