In the thrilling run chase in the 2nd game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League, the Quetta Gladiators beat Islamabad United by 3 wickets. In the low-scoring game, the Gladiators chased down the 139-run target in just 18.2 overs.

Islamabad United posted a total of 138 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs in the 1st innings. Collin Munro and Alex Hales provided a steady start, contributing 20 and 21 runs, respectively. Agha Salman’s aggressive innings of 33 runs off 23 balls boosted the scoring rate. However, a disciplined bowling performance from the Quetta Gladiators, led by Abrar Ahmed, Akeal Hosein, and Wasim. It created significant breakthroughs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan and skipper Shadab Khan led the proceedings but failed to put up a show. Jordan Cox and Imad Wasim tried to stabilise the innings, scoring 19 and 9 runs, respectively. Faheem Ashraf’s quickfire 20 off 14 balls provided a late flourish, but the Gladiators’ bowlers, especially Wasim and Abrar Ahmed, remained effective. They took three wickets each, while Hosein also took two wickets.

Jason Roy set the stage for Quetta Gladiators!

In a thrilling run chase, the Quetta Gladiators secured victory by three wickets against an impressive opponent. Chasing a target of 139 set by the opposition, the Gladiators showcased commendable batting performances. Jason Roy emerged as a dominant force at the top, contributing a valuable 37 runs at a brisk strike rate of 205.56.

Despite the early dismissal of Saud Shakeel, the team found stability through Rilee Rossouw, who scored an impressive nine runs. The captain played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten with a resilient 34 runs and steering the team to victory with a strike rate of 89.47.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the wicketkeeper-batsman, and Sherfane Rutherford also made noteworthy contributions, adding 16 and 29 runs, respectively. Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Wasim Jr. played pivotal roles, ensuring a successful run chase.

The Gladiators achieved the target in 18.2 overs, displaying a balanced and determined performance. For Islamabad United, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan took two wickets each. On the other hand, Rumman Raees and Hunain Shah also took a wicket each.
