PSL: Shoaib Malik powers Peshawar to brilliant win

The former champion Karachi Kings suffered their 4th consecutive loss of the tournament.

Shoaib Malik who turned 40 a couple of days back, was the star for Peshawar both with the bat and ball.

Malik scored a half-century and also picked up a wicket in the only over he bowled today.

Peshawar scored 173 runs with the loss of 4 wickets from their 20 overs.

The experienced Malik scored a half-century while Zazai made 41 runs off just 27 balls.

Umaid Asif was picked up amongst the bowlers as he picked up 3 crucial wickets.

In reply, Karachi never looked threatening and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Babar scored 90 runs but he was not in full touch and played a little slow in the middle cost them the match. 

A Good start from Peshawar

The openers gave a brilliant start to Peshawar as they scored 53 runs from the powerplay.

Hazratullah Zazai played an excellent cameo with the bat today and got out on the last ball of powerplay when the scoreboard reached 53 runs.

Out of these 53 runs, Zazai scored 41 runs that showed his power and aggression with the bat.

Zazai smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

After his dismissal, Kamran Akmal tried to continue the innings like Zazai but he also got out after scoring only 23 runs off just 19 balls. 

The evergreen’s Shoaib Malik all-round show

The experienced Shoaib Malik played an outstanding knock of 52 runs off just 28 balls.

Malik also turned 40 just a couple of days ago but Shoaib Malik looked so young and played his shots all around the ground.

He smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes in his knock to put a respectable total on the board for his side.

But he wasn’t done yet!

Shoaib Malik also performed well with the ball and dismissed the dangerous Sharjeel Khan for a duck in his very first over.

Malik also took some brilliant catches in the field that proves his experience. 

Babar’s unbeaten 90 runs

The number 1 ranked T20 batter, Babar Azam thrashed a superb knock of unbeaten 90 runs but it didn’t help his side as Karachi lost the match by 9 runs.

Babar Azam was not timing the ball well and his class was also missing today but in the last part of the innings, he smashed some brilliant boundaries including 12 fours and a six.

He took 40 deliveries to complete his half-century and in the end, he remained unbeaten on 90 runs off just 63 deliveries.

Babar played some good shots in the last 2 overs but unfortunately, it was too late for Karachi to make a comeback in the match.
