India’s young sensation Shubman Gill has surged to the top of the ODI batting rankings in the world, overtaking Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam. This is the first time Gill has achieved the podium spot in the ODI rankings and what is even more special is that he has achieved the milestone in just 24 years of age.

Shubman Gill, known for his elegant stroke play and sound technique, has been a rising star in international cricket. He has been instrumental in India’s ODI success with his ability to anchor the innings and play match-winning knocks. Gill’s recent performances have been nothing short of phenomenal, earning him the coveted No.1 spot in the ODI batting rankings.

There were high expectations of fans from Gill before the ODI World Cup 2023 but the youngster tested positive for Dengue and missed out on the first two matches of the World Cup. However, he was included in the squad from India’s 3rd match but hasn’t delivered any special knock so far in the tournament.

Mohammed Siraj becomes the no. 1 ODI bowler

As India have already qualified for the semi-finals, the fans are hoping that Gill hits a hundred and helps India to lift the World Cup trophy for the 3rd time in history. The right-handed batter has played 26 ODI matches so far this year and has scored 1449 runs, the highest by any Indian batter in 2023.

On the other hand, Babar Azam, who has been a consistent performer for Pakistan, will undoubtedly be determined to regain his top-ranking status. The competition for the No.1 spot in ODI batting is fierce, and it promises thrilling battles between these two exceptional cricketers in the future.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has once again secured the top spot in the ODI bowlers’ rankings. His performance with the ball in ODIs over the past year has been remarkable. Although he had a relatively slow start in the World Cup, he gradually gained momentum and put on an exceptional display against Sri Lanka. It’s worth noting that he had previously showcased his bowling prowess with a remarkable six-wicket haul against the same Sri Lankan team during the final of the Asia Cup in September.
