The much-awaited sequel of veteran Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s 2001 released movie Gadar hit the theatres on Friday, August 11 and took the box office into a storm by making a grand opening of INR 40.10 crores on its first day of release. It completely overshadowed the Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 which was released on the same day.

OMG 2 which is based on sex education, collected only INR 10.26 crores on its first day. However, both movies took a hike on the weekend as Gadar 2 collected INR 43 and 48 crores on Saturday and Sunday respectively and making its total tally to INR 131.10 crores.

On the other hand, OMG 2 also performed well at the weekend as it earned INR 14.50 and 18 crores in the weekend. Its overall collection is INR 42.76 crores as of August 13. However, it’d be interesting to see if it continues to perform well or if the hype of Gadar 2 will continue on the big screens.

OMG 2 faced problems even before its release

Interestingly, OMG 2 had to go through several tests from the sensor board and there were many scenes which got cut from the movie. After which it was given the ‘A’ certificate from the censor board. However, many big celebrities and fans were not happy with this and expressed their disappointment on social media and said that the movie don’t need any certificates.

Akshay himself reacted to it and said that this is the first adult movie which is made for teenagers and that whatever is shown in the film should be taught in schools as well. “Kamaal ki baat bataun, pehli adult film hai joh teenagers ke liye bani hai. Actually yeh sab school main dikhana chahiye (The funny thing is that this is the first adult film which is made for teenagers. This should be shown in schools).” Akshay was quoted as saying by Entertainment Times.
