The 41st match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 is going to be very important for New Zealand as they need a win to stay in contention for the last remaining semifinal spot. They will be facing Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, November 9.

The Blackcaps started the tournament with 4 consecutive wins but now they have registered 4 back-to-back losses. They were all set to win their previous match which was against Pakistan in which they posted a mammoth total of 401 runs but the contest was interrupted by the rain and the Men in Green won the match by 21 runs via the DLS method, courtesy of brilliant century from Fakhar Zaman.

However, the much-awaited contest between New Zealand and Sri Lanka has a high chance of getting interrupted by the rain as It’s been raining on and off in Bengaluru in the lead-up to the match, with two of New Zealand’s optional training sessions interrupted by sharp showers.

On that note let’s take a look at the weather reports for the contest:

The match is set to take place in conditions where the temperature is anticipated to be around 27 degrees Celsius. However, there are concerns regarding possible rain disruptions. The weather report suggests that there is a greater than 70 per cent likelihood of rain, with heavy showers expected between 2 PM and 6 PM IST.

As per reports, thunderstorms are predicted at 1:30 PM, which coincides with the scheduled time for the toss in the game, and there is a 66 per cent chance of rain during this period. The possibility of rain is expected to rise between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, and it’s projected to remain above 50 per cent until 7:30 PM.

Accuweather, on the other hand, is forecasting thunderstorms at 3 PM and 7 PM. This could imply the possibility of yet another rain-affected game at the Chinnaswamy stadium which is definitely not a good sign for the Blackcaps. However, they can only hope for a full contest and win the game by a big margin or wickets.
