Nitish Rana posts cryptic tweet in regard to his snub from South Africa series

India announced the squads for the tour of South Africa recently. The squads for all three formats were concurrently announced by the Indian team, which had many obvious picks and some surprising picks. There were some snubs as well. Many players were happy to be picked in some of the squads. Some were disappointed for not getting picked.

When you play for a team like India, such things are expected to happen, given how the competition is. But it does hurt the players who expect to get picked in the squads. For instance, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal came up with cryptic responses following their snub in some of the recent series like India’s ODI and T20I squads against Australia. In the past, Ambati Rayudu had reacted similarly.

After the announcement of the squads for the series against South Africa, many players did not get picked in some of the positions they would have liked. Test players like KS Bharat, Umesh Yadav, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane were excluded from the squad. Even in limited-overs squads, there were some exclusions. But none of them reacted to their snub from India’s squad.

‘Yakeen mano, yah shaam bhi guzar jayegi’ – Nitish Rana

However, Nitish Rana reacted to him not being picked in any squad, albeit in a cryptic manner. Taking to X, Rana posted a collage of his image, one with a plain one and the other with a blurred one and wrote: “Yakeen mano, yah shaam bhi guzar jayegi (Believe me, this too shall pass).” The move from Rana is likely to have come after his snub from the limited-over squads against South Africa.

It comes a bit as a surprise, as Rana has not performed well in the last couple of years. Neither in domestic cricket nor at the IPL level, has Rana been able to maintain consistency. His numbers in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy tell a story. In such cases, one must not expect to be picked for the Indian team.
