Morris and Avesh Khan shine for the Royals
In the 7th match of IPL 2021 edition, Rajasthan Royals won against the Delhi Capitals in the very last over of their innings.
Rajasthan Royals chased the target with 3 wickets left in their hand.
Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Delhi Capitals failed to post a big score yet again.
Young gun Prithvi Shaw only managed to score 2 in 5 balls. Moreover, Shikhar Dhawan made 9 off 11 balls with 1 four.
When Rahane fell for 8 in the 6th over, Delhi were in dire straits at 36 for 3.
However, Skipper Pant was in good form.
He played brilliantly and scored a half century when it mattered.
Pant was on fire as he struck 9 fours but it was surprising to see that no Delhi batsmen managed to hit even a single six in their 20 overs.
Chris Woakes, Tom Curran and Lalit Yadav’s late contribution took Delhi Capitals to 147-8.
Still, it was a low score, however they did well after losing early wickets.
Jaydev Unadkat was the star bowler from Royals. The 29-year old took 3 wickets in his 4 overs spell giving only 15 runs.
Mustafizur Rahman and Chris Morris were also spot-on with their length and deliveries.
The Rajasthan bowlers did well, but now it was time for their batsmen.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go well for the Royals.
They lost their hard hitter early, who is known for his explosive style of batting, namely Jos Buttler. England’s wicket keeper was out for only 2 runs. The former champions were reduced quickly to 17 for 3.
But, RR found the man for the moment in David Miller who was on fire from the moment he stepped on the pitch.
The South African made a brilliant 62 runs with 7 fours and 2 sixes.
He single-handedly helped his team make a comeback in a tense run chase. However, Miller got out at the wrong time and Royals were down to 102-7.
The job was not done but, but a sensational innings from Chris Morris changed the course of the match.
Morris was on another level, scoring an unbeaten 36 runs of just 18 balls with a strike rate over 200.
The 8th wicket partnership between Unadkat and Morris took Rajasthan over the line and thus, the lower order stunned DC with their fantastic spirit and batting skills, during the run chase.
Avesh Khan bowled well taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs for Delhi. Chris Woakes and Kagiso Rabada also took two wickets each in their four overs, respectively. Marcus Stoinis was expensive as he gave 15 runs in the single over he bowled.
