India are set to face Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. Their last encounter in an ODI World Cup final was in 2003 when the Kangaroos triumphed over India by a margin of 125 runs. However, it’s been 20 years since that happened.

This time around, the Men in Blue are in exceptional form and have maintained an undefeated streak throughout the tournament, playing 10 matches, including the semi-final against New Zealand. A key factor behind India’s stellar performance is their formidable bowling, with Mohammed Shami standing out.

In just six matches, Shami has already claimed 23 wickets, securing the top spot in the tournament’s leading wicket-takers list. Meanwhile, ahead of the final match, Shami’s mother, Anjum, expressed confidence that her son would bring glory to the country.

“My son should bring glory to our country and our It is my prayer that the Indian team brings the World Cup. I also thank the government for the efforts started by the Yogi government to build a stadium in my village and we are very happy.” Sham’s mother was quoted as saying by Zee News.

The upcoming World Cup clash holds significant importance for the Indian team. Led by Rohit Sharma, they aspire to secure their third World Cup title, while Australia, playing in their eighth final, aims to clinch the trophy for the record-extending sixth time. India, in its fourth World Cup final appearance, has the opportunity to lift the trophy for the third time. Rohit himself talked about Australia and heaped praise on them for their outstanding performance in the tournament so far.

“Australia have won 8 out of 8. They have played good cricket and both the teams deserve to be in the finals. We know what Australia can do. They are a very complete side.
