India posted 186 for 7 in their T20 World Cup warm-up match against Australia at Gabba, with a brilliant half-century by Suryakumar Yadav and an impressive outing by KL Rahul. Kane Richardson, 4-30, was the pick of the bowler for Australia.

Rohit Sharma reacts to India’s thrilling win

Rohit Sharma: We batted well, towards the end we could have added 10-15 more. We wanted to stay till the end, which Suryakumar Yadav did. It was a good pitch where you could trust our batters’ bounce. You have to be smart while playing with significant boundaries. Getting them is essential but getting singles and twos to accumulate 8-9 in an over is just as key. We have focused on that since Perth. We need to improve at the death. We need to change lengths and tactics. Sometimes hitting the deck is a good option. Overall, it was a good game. It was a good pitch and their batting put pressure on us. Bowling Shami at the death was always the plan and you saw what he did.

Aaron Finch says the team needs to capitalize on death overs

Aaron Finch: Haven’t capitalized in the chase in the last 3-4 overs. The bowling was good, was happy with the bat too and get a few runs. Richardson was fantastic, we have great depth in the fast bowling department. Zampa and Agar were great too. Can’t wait for the New Zealand game. There will be some nerves but should be exciting.

Warm-up fixture performance is a big boost to Team India as their death bowling has been a concern in recent times. Mohammad Shami was the star performer.
