‘Missed the thrilling match’ – Fans react as Paarl Royals overcome Pretoria Capitals by 10 runs in high scoring thriller in SA20 2024

Paarl Royals won a thriller against Pretoria Capitals in the 6th match of the SA20 2024. In the high-scoring game, the Royals emerged victorious for the second time in the league against the Capitals. Batting first, Paarl Royals managed to post a good total of 210 runs on the board. Very early in their innings, Paarl lost the wicket of Jason Roy, who managed to score 5 runs in 6 balls.

Wihan Lubbe could not do much damage and perished soon. Jos Buttler was joined by David Miller and the duo steadied the innings of the Royals. They batted well in the middle. While Buttler was dismissed after scoring 39 runs in 23 balls, Miller continued and played a big knock. The skipper of the Royals was joined by Van Buuren who also played a very good knock. The duo smashed the bowlers of Pretoria for fun.

Miller scored 75 runs in 42 balls, which included 8 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Van Buuren scored 72 runs in 40 balls that included 7 fours and 3 sixes. The duo remained unbeaten and helped the Royals to set a target of 211 runs. Chasing it, the Capitals lost the wickets of Phil Salt and Theunis De Bruyn early. Both of them were dismissed for single-digit scores.

Will Jacks and Rilee Rossouw’s knock goes in vain

While Slat was dismissed for a silver duck, De Bruyn was undone for 4(4). Will Jacks was joined by Rilee Rossouw. The two batters kept Pretoria alive in the game with their batting. While Jacks scored 58 runs in 34 balls, Rossouw continued and played a big innings. The Southpaw scored 82 runs in 45 balls before getting dismissed by Lungi Ngidi. His knock included 10 fours and 4 sixes.

What seemed like an easy chase turned out to be a nightmare for Pretoria who fell like a pack of cards. From 153/2 in 13.3 overs at one stage, Pretoria collapsed to 187/7 in 17.3 overs. Ngidi and co claimed wickets just at the right time before it could go worse for them. Due to the crucial wickets towards the end, the Royals were able to win the match against the Capitals by 10 runs.
