Suryakumar expressed the team’s intention to perform well in upcoming major events and carry the same playing style into the T20 World Cup as seen in the recently concluded ODI World Cup. However, fans criticized his statement, citing his subpar performance in the final match of the ODI tournament, and expressing concerns about a potential repeat in the T20 World Cup.
“We will try to be good in upcoming major tournaments & will play next year’s T20 WC the same way we played this time & we are hopeful of winning it next year,” Suryakumar said.

Suryakumar acknowledged this compassionate gesture from PM Modi, describing it as a significant and meaningful act.
“We all were disappointed, and seeing Prime Minister Narendra Modi among us was a big thing. He met everyone and told us to move on, as it happens in the sport. His motivational words and meeting us were big as he is the country’s leader. We listened to him carefully and will try to follow his suggestions,” Suryakumar was quoted as saying by Cric Today.
